Windows 11 is a work in progress. Microsoft is steadily improving the latest Windows operation system with frequent updates. It’s in your best interest to install the latest build to protect your PC from vulnerabilities and enjoy new features. Some users have been having issues updating Windows 11 for x64-based systems. If you are among them, read along to fix the problem.
There are many factors at play here. We will start with basic troubleshooting tricks and move to advanced ones to fix Windows 11 installation errors on x64-based systems.
1. Ensure a Solid Wi-Fi Connection
Windows 11 updates come in large sizes. Some updates even go about 2GB-3GB in size. You must use a fast, steady Wi-Fi connection to download and install the update successfully. When you connect to a Wi-Fi network, opt for a 5GHz frequency and not a slower 2.4GHz for faster speeds. If you have an Ethernet connection at home or office, try using it over a Wi-Fi connection.
Step 1: Open Windows 11 Settings menu (use Windows + I keys).
Step 2: Select Network & internet from the left sidebar.
Step 3: Make sure it says connected status.

You can visit fast.com and make sure you have a double-digit internet speed (in Mbps).
2. Uninstall Third-Party Anti-Virus Programs
Sometimes third-party anti-virus applications like Malwarebytes or Norton may block the Windows 11 installation process. Here’s how you can uninstall such programs.
First, you must close anti-virus apps from the background. Press the up arrow in the bottom right corner of the taskbar. Right-click on an anti-virus app, and select quit.
Step 1: Launch Windows 11 Settings menu and select Apps from the left sidebar.
Step 2: Open Apps & features.

Step 3: Find the app from the list. Select the three-dot menu beside it.
Step 4: Select Uninstall and confirm your decision.

You can try installing Windows 11 update, and you shouldn’t face errors.

Microsoft has an excellent Windows Security tool built in to combat such problems.
