Step 2: Find a third-party anti-virus app from the list and select the End Task button. 

Step 3: Open the Windows Settings menu and select Apps from the sidebar. 

Step 4: Select Apps & features

Step 5: Scroll to a third-party anti-virus app from the list and select uninstall

Step 6: Confirm your decision. 

Step 7: Head to the Windows Update menu and try installing the latest Microsoft build without any issues. 

4. Use Device Manager Menu

HID stands for Human Interface Device. It’s essential for your keyboard, trackpad, mouse, and other hardware on your computer. You can update drivers from the Device Manager menu. 

First, you must download relevant drivers from the web and install them using the Device Manager menu. 

Step 1: Right-click on the Windows key to open Device Manager

Step 2: Expand Keyboard from the list and right-click on HID Keyboard Device

Step 3: Select Update Driver from the context menu and select Search automatically for drivers

Repeat the same for the laptop trackpad and try installing the Windows update again. 

5. Install Optional Updates and Try Again

This trick worked for us when we faced error 0X800f0922 when installing Windows update KB5012170. Here’s what you need to do. 

Step 1: Go to the Windows Update menu and select Advanced Options

Step 2: Select Optional updates and install pending driver updates on your PC. 

Once you complete the process, try installing HIDClass – 18.16.37.672 again.
