As temperatures cool, the year is heating up with exciting PlayStation 5 titles, and October is going to be stacked with games. However, players already have a pretty good idea of what will take the spotlight if the month of September has anything to say about it. The best-selling PS5 games of September have something for everyone.
1. Madden NFL 24 – PlayStation 5

Madden NFL 24 released on August 18th and utilizes the new Field-Sense technology that adds a heightened sense of realism to the visuals, better A.I, and enhanced gameplay. Despite lukewarm reviews, and controversy surrounding the quality of the last few installments, Madden NFL 24 handles the best that the franchise ever has, and it looks like players recognize that, seeing as how the game hit close to 1 million sales in its first week of launch.
2. MARVEL’S SPIDER-MAN 2 – PS5 Launch Edition

Even though Spider-Man 2, the highly anticipated sequel to Insomniac’s first installment on PS4, and its remastered iteration and spinoff title Miles Morales on PS5, does not release until October 20th, players have a pretty good idea on how it will sell. The biggest PS5 game of 2023 has three different iterations available for pre-order, and a limited edition PS5 console-bundle that released on September 1st, which sold out almost immediately. If the $600 bundle is any indication, Spider-Man 2 might be one of the bestselling games of the year, which is saying a lot for a game that is exclusive to the PS5 console.
3. Granblue Fantasy: Relink PS5 Deluxe

The PS5 remaster of Granblue Fantasy: Relink releases on February 1st, 2024, and is available as a free PS5 upgrade for players who purchase the PS4 version. As a result, it is impressive to say the least that the upgraded version of the game is selling as well as it is, although it has been a long time coming since the initial reveal was as far back as 2016. The single player online, narrative driven RPG has four editions available for pre-order, one of which is the $180 collector’s edition that is currently sold out since going on sale last week.
4. Gran Turismo 7 Standard Edition

Gran Turismo 7 released on March 5th, 2023, and might be the most impressive racing simulator on the market. Between the PS5 and PSVR2 equivalent of Gran Turismo 7, the game has sold over 10 million copies. As the definitive racing experience on PS5, it is suspected that Gran Turismo 7 will continue to impress in sales charts for quite some time.
5. NBA 2K24 Black Mamba Edition

NBA 2K24 Black Mama Edition released September. 8, 2023, for $99.99. Even though the previous installment made over $11 million in sales, NBA 2K24 features Kobe Bryant and also releases on PS4, so it would not be surprising if it tops its predecessor. The latest rendition is said to feature improved gameplay, customization options, and controls, as well as updated visuals for a more immersive and free experience on the court.
6. Persona 3 Reload: Standard Edition

Persona 3 Reload is a remake of the original Persona 3 game that was released in Japan in 2006, and later in North America in 2007. Even though the newest addition of the Persona franchise has a release date of February 2, 2024, preorders are live and available to purchase with special bonuses. The previous released game, Persona 5, has sold over 9 million copies worldwide, so Persona 3 Reload has big shoes to fill.
7. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition

The second Spider-Man game to be released by Insomniac Games in 2020 is a spin-off of the original Spider-Man that originally released on PS4 just two years earlier. Despite being a spin-off, Miles Morales is expansive on not just the characters and story, but the city itself. The game has sold over 6.5 million copies, and that number is surely to rise with Spider-Man 2 on the horizon.
8. Mortal Kombat 1 Premium Edition

September 14, 2023 is the release date for the highly anticipated NetherRealm arcade-style fighting game, Mortal Kombat 1 Premium Edition, which will be available four days before the standard edition. The release date is not the only difference between the two available copies, as the premium edition includes 6 new playable characters, 5 new Kameo characters, early access to DLC characters, a skin, and some in-game currency, making the $110 USD price point worth it. The re-imagining of the classic arcade style fighting game is seeing a positive player response, and for fighting game standards, is no doubt going to sell well and be popular for years to come.
9. Call of Duty Modern Warfare III

Call of Duty Modern Warfare III has a release date of November 10, 2023. The 2022 Modern Warfare 2 sold $1 billion within its first 10 days, and it will be interesting to see if the newest iteration can beat that since it features 16 maps re-imagined from the original Modern Warfare 2, with updated graphics. It also introduces a new type of multiplayer mode, Cutthroat, which is a 3v3v3 battle. For the first time, there is now a Zombies mode in the Infinity Ward Call of Duty franchise, in which players will be able to team-up in a squad. Pre-orders are now live with various editions of the game to choose from.
10. Tekken 8

Tekken 8, releasing on January 26, 2024, takes full advantage of the PS5’s hardware, allowing for more defined details, such as high-resolution playable characters, and natural muscle movements that will immerse players in the fight. The full Tekken franchise has a combined total of over 54 million copies sold, making Tekken 8 a welcome addition to the franchise. Players will feel the actions through haptic feedback support, which is a feature specific to the PS5.
